About

About Primary Moves

Primary Moves delivers high-quality dance education led by professional performers and choreographers who are passionate about inspiring the next generation. Our teachers bring real experience and professional conduct into schools, creating engaging sessions that are energetic, inclusive, and enriching.

Each class is fun and informative, combining physical development with creative exploration. By the end of each session, children will have built stamina, strength, and dance technique while also developing confidence, imagination, and the ability to express themselves through movement.

Our teachers adapt their working day to the individual needs of each school. Typically, a full day consists of up to six classes, though this can be tailored as required. Most schools use Primary Moves for PPA cover, while others choose our sessions as a professional development opportunity, allowing staff to observe, learn, and gain inspiration.

Meet the Founder

alexis butterworth

Alexis Butterworth began teaching dance at a young age at her local dance school in Lancashire. She went on to complete her degree at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance before embarking on a successful performance career, touring with various dance companies and performing as a dancer at Disneyland Resort Paris.

Alongside her performing work, Alexis continued to teach children and adults of all ages, sharing her deep love for dance and creative expression. She is now a dance specialist across several primary schools in Kensington and Chelsea, where her work has won multiple awards at Borough competitions.

Alexis has played a key role in introducing and developing dance programmes in numerous schools and remains dedicated to supporting both the artists and educational communities she works with. She firmly believes that dance is for everyone and that anyone can dance. This philosophy shapes everything Primary Moves stands for, and she seeks the same passion and commitment in every teacher who joins her team.
